The HAL Tejas is a 4th Generation combat aircraft developed by Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and being manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The aircraft was developed under the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) project and is currently the lightest supersonic multirole combat aircraft in the world.
The Tejas is undergoing flight trials and is expected to achieve Initial Operating Clearance (IOC) by December 2011, with Final Operating Clearance (FOC) by 2012. IOC will allow the formation of the first operational squadron of the Tejas, which will be based in Sulur, and FOC would clear the Tejas for full combat operations.
